Petra Östergren is a writer and social commentator. She holds a Masters in Social Anthropology and will commence her PhD studies at Lund University in the fall of 2008. The theme of her dissertation will be The State of Feminism.

Her latest book Porr, horor och feminister (Porn, Whores and Feminists) was published November 2006. In the book she examines the paradoxical nature of a three decade long anti-porn and prostitution movement in Sweden.

She is currently editing the anthology F-ordet. Mot en ny feminism (The F-word. Towards a New Feminism), to be published September 2008. Petra also works on a book where she examines left and liberal libertarian thought  in Swedish politics. It is due to be out in the spring of 2009.

Petra writes regularly for the opinion pages and culture sections of newspapers and magazines like Svenska Dagbladet, LO-tidningen, Expressen, Aftonbladet and Voltaire. She regulary participates in public debates. 

Petra was born in the northen town Kiruna in 1965 and spent a lot of time abroad, particularly in Australia. She now lives permanently in Stockholm, Sweden.
